Saturday happenings

Yesterday proved to be kind of an exciting day. I played with Cailin, went to lunch with a friend from work, and met Red Sox Hall-of-Famer pitcher, Bill Lee. I went to Cambridge Wine and Spirits to pick up Dan a six pack while the baby slept and he washed the dishes and Bill Lee was doing a tasting of his new wine called "Spaceman" his MLB nickname. Before you guys all freak out, yes, I had a sip of wine. I mean, literally a sip. Like less than a mouthful (plus I doubt a glass or two of wine is going to have any negative effect on a fetus, but I digress). I really wasn't too sure who Bill Lee really was but he seemed cool. He talked about his vineyard in Cali and how he was an avid supporter of legalizing marijuana for recreational and medicinal use. I am a supporter of medical marijuana and I kind of don't care if pot is legal for recreational use or not. It won't bother me either way. I actually think it might due us some good and would end some of the violence on our borders and streets. In regards to medical marijuana I can't say I know it's effect but I think that if it helps someone who is terminally ill feel less pain or helps someone with chronic pain it is a hell of a lot better than becoming addicted to opiates.

Well, he was super interesting and a huge toker. He said he used to blaze up a blunt while riding his bike on the way to Fenway to play a game and it would help him concentrate more and not get as nervous. Whatever works, bro. You had a great ERA and you still play professional baseball at 65 so what do I know!

I got a bottle of his wine, which was good, and he signed it for me. I know my dad would think its cool but I also like it! It makes for a great story to tell the kids some day! HA!

So after all that happened I ran into an old friend from when I was in the restaurant business and we got to talking for a while and I found out he also left our former employer on bad terms as well. (Screw that restaurant, but I am glad I totally kicked their ass legally). Some days I really miss working in the restaurant business. I really enjoyed the guests and bartending and having a later schedule. Not to say I hate my job in any capacity, I love it!
