2012: A year in review!

2011 was great, but 2012 was even better! Here is a recap of the most important events in my life over the past year!

January 3, 2012
I started teaching! I know, can you believe I have only been in Billerica for a year?! Technically not even a year yet but I feel so at home here I couldn't imagine working elsewhere. (not to mention the great restaurant fallout of 2011 leading to this new job :/  oh well...)

Some of my students were accepted to districts and my male student even got the solo! It was a great experience to not only have students accepted but have one of my kids get the solo! I was more than proud!

Feb. 11 was my birthday of course! Even though I couldn't go out per say I still had fun!

In April I went to Akron, Ohio to visit my good friend Betsy and met her then 10 week old baby Xavier!  It was great seeing Betsy and meeting her fiancĂ© Nick and her little babe! Xavier was the best baby ever! Hardly cried, slept through the night, and cute as could be! I was so relieved that Xavier was good and it made me hope and pray Cailin would be just as easy. Then I got nervous because I thought there was no way in hell my kid would be well behaved! We also got to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which was on my bucket list! It was even more fun that I could have imagined, even though I walked around pregnant as hell!

My chorus had its first concert in May in conjunction with the other middle school. Everyone did such a great job and the concert was well received by all! I was definitely nervous because I thought we would never get there but everything came together and we pulled off an amazing show!

Dan and I also took a few daycations in May. First, we went to Newport, Rhode Island. Even though I live in a neighboring state, I had never really been to RI, especially Newport. We went out for lunch and cruised the beaches. It was a nice sunny day out so we took a long walk too. We really wanted to do the cliff walk but I was way too pregnant to put up with it haha

We also climbed Mt. Washington which was a lot more fun that I expected. Driving up and down that winding road and stopping at all the vistas was relaxing and adventurous at the same time. We didn't do much walking since I was ready to pop.

June 18, at 8:50 am we welcomed our pride and joy, Cailin Bonnie, into the world! After a relatively easy pregnancy, easy labor, but horrendously awful delivery Cailin was born. I think back to this moment almost everyday and think about how blessed we are to have such a precious little baby in our lives. Cailin is the best baby I have ever seen. She has been sleeping through the night since 6-8 weeks old, hardly ever cries, has motor skills that are advanced for her age, and is the cutest little girl I have ever seen! She also has just as much hair as I do! This was by far the most important thing to happen in 2012. We love our little cutie more than words can describe!

P.S. Thank God for this bouncy seat since Cailin slept in it for 2 months until the doc reprimanded us and told me she had to be in her crib. She took to it well though!

I started working again right when the school year commenced in September. It was great to go back although one of my good friends left and started teaching at the high school. I have met some great people since starting in Billerica and we continue to have a blast every day even when work can get stressful, and it can. I do teach middle school ya know! (I remember being a complete asshole in middle school, and thankfully none of my students are as big a jerk as I was!)

The three of us headed to Plattsburgh, NY to visit my cousin and Grandparents. I wanted everyone to meet baby Cailin and I really wanted to see everyone as well. I can honestly say we had a great time but I can't say I will be making a 5 hour drive with an infant anytime soon. Even the best babies can reach the end of their rope, and Cailin's was when we reached White River Junction and continued until we made it to Belmont. FML that was bad.

Halloween was super fun this year. Cailin had a little party at daycare and she dressed up as a little kitty. She struggled to stay awake past 6 though. She partied harddddd!

We also had a great Thanksgiving. Cailin tried Turkey and gagged. Someone does not like meat yet. My dad came over and I made a nice meal.

Christmas was also amazing but we havent uploaded those pics yet... Cailin got lots of gifts from everyone.

Also my good friend Tracy got married two days ago. It was one of the best weddings I have ever been to. I am so glad she had so much fun and got to marry her perfect someone! Congrats Brett and Tracy!!

So what will 2013 bring? More vacations? a new car? another baby M? a house? We can dream of these things and whether they happen or not will not deter us from having an even more surprising and amazing year in 2013. Cailin is more than enough to make this year special and I am so excited to see what awesome things she accomplishes this year!

Happy New Year from our family to yours!!!

Tracy's Wedding

Last night one of my best friends, Tracy, got married. I can honestly say it was probably one of the best weddings I have ever been to! I loved everything about it and it was so personalized I could tell Tracy spent lots of time thinking every detail trough. I LOOOOOOOVED her ceremony music, especially the song she walked down the aisle to! TEARS! SHe looked absolutely gorgeous too!

She also chose Monponsett Inn in Halifax as her reception venue. Dan and I had our reception there and they did an amazing job with ours, and now Tracy and Brett's wedding as well. I highly recommend them! While we were wedding dress shopping for me we stumbled accross this little place in New Bedford called Julie's Bridal. They are phenomenal! My dress was exactly what I was looking for at a great price and Tracy also found her dress there!

I had a fun time connecting with some long lost friends: Kathleen, Jenny, Dave, Mike, and DY! It was great to see these people and it definitley makes me miss the SS and my college buds!

The best part of it all was I could tell Tracy and Brett were having the time of their lives! Every moment seemed laid back and fun. Not one moment seemed stressed which I can't stand. Some people get really stressed about everything in a wedding but it is meant to be more than fun! I am so happy for them both!

We were baby free for the evening of course and had a great time!

Have a great honeymoon!! Don't do anything I would do ;)

Auntie Val visits form Arizona!

Cailin, you are so lucky to have an Auntie who is so in love with you as Auntie Val! She loves coming to visit which I know is difficult because she lives all the way in Arizona. Val flew out over the veterans day holiday to come see you. She was so excited to see how much you have grown and how interactive you are getting. She also flew out for a special reason... she was becoming your Godmother! Uncle Mike became your Godfather as well, but he was unable to fly out this time :( He was so sad to miss it and he called us on your special day to check up on you. (more on the Baptism later)

Val was so nice and spoiled your rotten while she was here. You spent 3 nights over GG's house with Val. It is the longest I have ever been away from you and although it was sad to have you away for that long, I know Auntie Val was so happy to see you for that extra time!

She bought you TONS of new clothes! You got to go to Bass Pro SHops with Uncle Paul, GG, and Val to get your picture taken with Santa! He was there over that weekend and you were very lucky to be able to see him!

Val also took you to get your pictures taken! Val bought you this beautiful creme colored dress, and the first white one is your Christening gown!

oops, I drooled mid-photo! ;)

My happy baby girl!

Cailin 5 months Old

Cailin, you are such a sweet, loving little baby. You give me hugs all the time and love getting kissies from Mama! You can roll, roll, roll! You love it AND guess what?1 You now love tummy time too, which is amazing since you hated it until about a week ago! You can sit when propped up by pillows and love it when we hold you up so you can stand. You sleep through the night 7-630, and still take 2-2hr naps a day and sometimes sneak a little third one in before bed. You have been totally obsessed with daddy for about 3 weeks now. Like, OBSESSED! As soon as you hear the front door open you look right towards the front hall to watch him come in and get so excited when you see him!

You love playing in your exersaucer and gym, and LOVE being at daycare. There is only one other daycare girl, Olivia, and sometimes Lilliana and Priscilla are there too. Silla loves you. she plays with you all the time and wards off Jackson who likes to steal your toys. You are also baby friends with Tate. He is so loud but you are always staring at him when I come to get you and sometimes you are playing next to each other in your bumbo seats. I heard that even one time Suzana saw you two holding hands!

You are a nosey baby too and have to know what is going on at all times. Cailin, you also like to chew on everything! Seriously, dads hand, your toys, and you take your binky out so you can chew on it! You also drool a lot. Teething? Possibly, but you have been doing this for a while now.

You finally notice the cats. I think you are aware tat they are living things in the house and you like to track them when they walk by especially Nicky. Sylvester tries to stay as far away from you as possible but Nicky is more interested. He likes to stand in the doorway to your room while we are playing, sit on the dining room chair when you are playing in your exersaucer, which I put there so I can wash bottles and dishes and still talk to you!

You outgrew your bouncy chair, which is sad since you spent so much time there as a little baby. You loved it and it was the only place you would sleep for the longest time. You have been sleeping flat in your crib since you were 2 months old. You love it! For naps and bedtime ass I need to do is lay ou down, put your mittens on, swaddle you, and give you a binky then poof! You are instantly asleep. Sometimes you cry for 1 or 2 minutes but that has become rare.

All in all Cailin, you are the best baby a mommy and daddy could ask for! We couldn't have asked for anything more! You are perfect!

4 month update (late)

Cailin turned 4 months on 10/18, which was also Dan's birthday. I got to spend some time with Cailin after work and then our friend Aimee came and watched her *sleep* while me and Dan went to The Black Raven in Waltham. The food was pretty good and we were both able to have a cocktail.

Cailin is reaching all of her milestones: she is reaching, cooing, and making lots of noise. She had a dr's appoitnment in late October. She was 15lbs 11oz, 26 inches long, she is in the 70th percentile for weight and 96th percentile for length! What a tall baby!

Fall Happenings

I am totally in love with fall! It's getting cooler, the leaves are changing, and it's almost Halloween. Not to mention Cailin turns 4 months old, Dan's birthday is right around the corner, we have a family photo shoot coming up with Amy and Cailin may be starting baby food and cereal this month.

In other news, I am having a terrible time figuring out what Cailin should be for Halloween. We want her to be a bumble bee but we cannot find a bee costume that fits and isnt a lot of money. I think she might end up being a kitty or a fairy.

Cailin turns 4 months on Dan's 29th birthday this week. Where does the time go? 29?! 4 months?! wow. Cailin has her dr's appointment on the 30th. She will get a couple of shots and we will discuss the formula switch and her eating food. Many people start solids at 4months but I am not against waiting until she is 6 months old, which used to be the recommended age. Who knows, the dr could give us the go ahead with solids and she might not be ready and she might just spit it right out. I am pretty set on keeping her on all organic and non-gmo foods. We will be buying the Earth's Best baby food and I am still looking for the cereals.

Although we havent tried food, we are getting used to the highchair!

update* update*

I am terribly sorry for not updating more regularly but life has been hectic.

School is off to a great start and my students are wonderful, overall, this term. I have one class that is a it of trouble but otherwise everything is a breeze! We start learning guitars later this week!

We went to my grandparents in Plattsburgh, NY this past weekend and it was really nice to see everyone. My cousin Nate has a steady girlfriend, my Grandfather is still rambunctious as hell, but my Gramma is really losing it. Her cognition is terrible. She barely knows who she is, she doesnt know who anyone else is, and she cannot function on her won. Dementia has taken its toll. She even has a little stuffed chicken as a toy. It is truly sad but all in all she still looks happy which is all I care about. She never seemed sad or frustrated and was generally complacent. Both my grandparents and Nate got to hold Cailin and spend some time with her. She really liked my Gramma and Nate and was good with Papa too.

The ride home was terrible as Cailin cried a lot of the way. What can you expect from a 3.5 month old? But it was still sad.

Cailin is getting so big! She can roll from front to back and back to front but not both in a row yet. She has also discovered that she has feet and she is obsessed with them.

On another note, Cailin went to the doctors because of some vomiting and spit up and they recommended less breast feeding because of reflux. It wasn't an urgent switch to formula so I was able to ween her a bit. I was also able to pump and save some breast milk which I will mix with some cereal down the line. Many doctors recommend adding cereal to an infants formula to thicken it but mine did not agree. She doesnt think adding the cereal is ok for infants under 4 months. All in all she likes the formula and she likes drinking out of the bottles. I could be sad about it but I think it's for the best. She needs good nutrition that her body can handle and formula is the best option.

3 months!

3. Months. Old.

Woah. Where does the time go? Seriously. School started 3 weeks ago. Cailin has been going to daycare while I am there. I drop her off on my way to work (its 5 mins away) and I pick her up on the way home. She loves it there. Every time I pick her up she is always smiling and playing!

I started with 7th grade, which is nice because I just had most of these students last term.

Cailin is doing al sorts of new things: giggling, rolling on both sides, and purposely kicking things! She is getting so big. She is now just about grown out of her 0-3 month stuff and is on to the 3-6 month clothes and she is still in a size 1 diaper. We are going to see how size 2 fits once the size 1s run out.

Cailin loves to be carried facing out. She really likes looking at her surroundings and meeting people. I just bought a baby bjorn front carrier and she loves that too. I also got her an exersaucer but she is still a bit too little for it. She is holding her head up all of the time and is STARTING to tolerate tummy time.

Wow. September already. I can barely believe it. Time seemed to stand still when I was pregnant, now, it is flying by. Cailin will be 3 months old in 17 days, I go back to work with the return of school next week, and it will be fall very soon.

I love autumn. I really like the cool weather, pumpkin everything, and the fall holidays: Halloween and especially Thanksgiving. Cailin will still be little but It is going to be so much fun taking her apple picking, to King Richards Faire, and to Salem. We may hve to do the Thanksgiving Parade this year!

Cailin had her 2 month dr's appointment on Tuesday. She is 12 lbs 7 oz and 23.5 inches tall!! My growing girl!! After a brief discussion with the dr, she suggested moving Cailin to her crib and have her sleep flat. When she was first born, she would not even entertain the idea at all. I would slowly put her down and 10 minutes later she would scream. Then we discovered that the bouncy seat was the best way to get her to stay asleep. She is still sleeping through the night but she wakes up about an hour earlier than she used to. She also likes to wiggle around and I ALWAYS find her with an extremity danlging between the bars of her crib. An arm, a leg, BOTH legs... its funny but I think I need to get a mesh bumper LOL

the last week

This week was pretty exciting on many levels. Dan's Aunt Val and Uncle Mike are over from Arizona so we spent some time hanging out with them and the baby. She spent the night over Dan's parents house twice over the past couple of weeks. I was sad to leave her but I know she has fun over there!

As of Monday August 13, Cailin has been sleeping through the night. Like, 9pm-645am. I am impressed.

I started work this week, kind of. I have been designing the middle school music curriculum and it has actually been fun. I have almost completed the 6th grade. In doing so, I was able to find some great lessons for my 7th graders! I also went to my classroom and hung all the posters and even got the whole syllabus done. I still have lots of work to do so I am going in on Thursday to hopefully get everything done.

Since I had to be at work, Cailin spent her first 4 days at daycare. :( I was sad to leave her but the provider is very nice and she loves Cailin! There is another baby there who is 4 months old so hopefully Cailin will make a few friends as well. The older kids really enjoy her too and can't stop trying to help Suzana! I am really glad we had this week to get used to the daycare and i think Cailin will really like it there!

2 Months YOUNG!

My precious Cailin is 2 months old today! Where is the time going?

She is the best baby anyone could ask for! She rarely cries, smiles all the time, and sleeps through the night! (as of Monday this seems to be the new normal!) She goes to bed around 8 and then I wake her up around 6:30! It's great!

We spend our days playing at the spray park, taking walks, and playing with her toys. She loves being read to and looking at the pages. She also likes to watch tv but I don't really allow her to do so but sometimes at night she isn't quite ready to sleep so I let her sit with me quietly for a while.

Happy Anniversary!

One year ago today I married my high school sweetheart and life changed forever! Little did we know that over the course of one year our bond would deepen and our lives could change so much!

We married each other on August 13, 2011. The ceremony was at Brewster Garden's in Plymouth, a place I went often as a child in the town I grew up in. The reception was at the Monponsett Inn in Halifax. Dan and I had both been there for family reunions and events. We had the most amazing wedding anyone could ask for! The weather was perfect, we were surrounded by our family and friends, and we got to pledge our undying love for one another!

Right after we got married, we talked about having children. We both knew that we wanted them and soon but decided to let whatever would happen, happen. We spent the next month and a half partying and living it up! we were married and had a great time celebrating it! It was so fulfilling to know that we picked "the right one" in high school!

On Wednesday, October 12, 2011, we found out we were pregnant! I was in such shock that it happened so quickly, I called out of work at NMA. Wow! We were expecting a BABY! I went to my OB/GYN's office for the test and when they told me it was positive, I was so excited I think I blacked out! OMG A BABY! I had them do the blood test just to be sure and the nurse, Lisa, explained that a positive is always a positive and that a negative can rarely be wrong. I still insisted and she called the next day and said, "yea, you are still pregnant"

It was official, we were expecting!! It was literally one of the best days of my life to hear that news! I wanted Dan to be just as surprised as I was so I bought him a cute little card and wrote a nice note in it. I put a little gift bag together that had a bib that read "Daddy's rock star" in it along with the positive test from the Dr's office. He was so surprised! I was expecting him to pass out!

We spent the next 9 months prepping for our baby! At 19 weeks we found out we were having a girl!! Dan picked the name "Cailin" and I loved it! We both thought Bonnie would be a great middle name, after my late mother.

Being pregnant was difficult. It was physically taxing, and emotionally draining. I missed my mom more than ever. Since I was a little girl, I always thought that my mom would be in the delivery room when I had my babies. It was really tough to know that she wouldn't be there for that.

On June 18, 2012 we welcomed our PERFECT baby girl, Cailin Bonnie Moriarty, at 8:50 am! Our lives are even more perfect than we could have ever expected. Cailin is a great baby! She never cries, and eats and sleeps well! We are very blessed!

We got to spend a weekend together to celebrate our anniversary last weekend. Dans parents watched Cailin and Val is up from Az! It was really nice to spend time with each other!

I love life right now!

I cannot emphasize enough how much I am loving life right now! I love spending every moment of my day with Cailin! we both wait all day for Dan to come home from work then our family is complete!

She is the best baby anyone could ask for. She is rarely fussy, she eats well, and she is consistently sleeping 5-5.5 hour stretches at night followed by 2, 2-3 hour stretches in the am. She behaves well in stores and restaurants when she is awake and much of the time she falls asleep in the car ride to where we are going. Napping can be odd because she usually sleeps in the am then takes an afternoon nap then a little snooze in the late afternoon. The exact timing is a bit difficult and sometimes she has a bit of trouble falling asleep for them.

Night time is her only fussy time and most times its not that bad. She cries a little when you are getting her ready for bed after her bath and while she is settling int sleep. I recently discovered "the happiest baby on the block" dvd and it is great! I learned some new tricks to make her fall asleep and be soothed and it works great!

We had a 3 day bad stretch when she had some serious gas. She was so gassy and was in some pain and that was the first time she was really fussy and wasn't easily soothed. I felt so bad I called her pediatrician. She recommended "gripe water" and we tried that and it does work. Once the gas pains subsided she was so tired! :( I felt terrible for my little sweetheart!

Dan and I are spending the weekend together as our anniversary is on Monday! ONE YEAR? wow. Time flies (unless you are pregnant, then it feels like forever!) I look back now and can barely remember life without Cailin. Pregnancy is tough, even if you have an uncomplicated one. It is so physically taxing! With that being said, it is so worth it in the end. I am so happy to have a smart, beautiful, baby girl and cannot wait to have more kids in the future. The somewhat distant future, but nonetheless, in the future.

We are lucky that Dan's Aunt paid for a night at the John Carver Inn, the hotel where we spend the weekend of our wedding. It will be so nice to enjoy each other while Cailin spends time with Dan's parents! We haven't had much time alone together since she was born and I can't wait to spend some quality time with my main squeeze! We are really excited for this vacation!

On another note, I have started some weening since I will be going back to work in September. No, I am not giving up on breast feeding but it would be a bit of a shock to both my body and to Cailin to suddenly stop when that time comes. I am replacing one day feeding with formula for now. Next week I will have to do another up until I am at the point where she isn't BF'ing during the times I would be at work. I know I can pump, but my time to do so will be limited during work and there is always the possibility that I might not have the chance and I do not want to risk leakage. I need to be honest and say that initially I hated breast feeding and even contemplated giving up on it several times, then sometime when she was 3 weeks old I began loving it! I really hate to have to give some of it up but it is not possible for me to feed her during the day when I return to work. I still plan on breast feeding her at night and all her other feedings. I will have to remain consistent with her daytime feedings on the weekends tho...

I am looking into getting our family photos taken in the fal. Cailin will be 4-5 months old and I think it will be nice and we can use the photos for our Christmas cards! It will be so cute!

in the next year...

I am stealing this idea from my friend Kaytee's blog: list 25 things you want to accomplish in the next calendar year! It's a great idea since I have gone through so many life changes this year, I can aspire to make the next equally as amazing!

1. Spend a vacation alone with my hubby! Being a parent is very fulfilling but we both know that we need to make time to spend with each other sans baby!

2. Begin practicing again. It has been a while due to the wedding then pregnancy. I got back to the practice room this past week and I have a lot to work on. Having a baby really changes your support not to mention taking a long break did not improve my vocal fitness.

3. Take a CPR certification class. I have done this in the past and am confident I still remember what I was taught but there have been significant changes in some of these life-saving practices AND you are supposed to get re-licensed every couple of years. It has been over ten years since I took it so it is definitely time!

4. Bring Cailin to the Children's Museum! She is a bit young now, but within the year she will be old enough! I LOVED going here when I was a kid!

5. Improve my eating habits. Lets be real here, I never really eat sweets or snack foods and I do eat a good amount of fruit and whole grains. Here is what I want to do: increase the amount of veggies I eat and increase my snacking. I would like to eat a small snack between each meal and make my meals a bit smaller.

6. Be a good mommy to my beautiful girl Cailin! This will be an everyday goal of mine for the rest of my life, and my most important! Being a mom is great and relatively easy thus far but I know that in the future I will eventually face hard decisions where the easy answer isn't always the best. Cailin is my number one priority and I need to make the best choices for her, even when they aren't the easiest!

7. Get Cailin to sleep in her crib. Without the bouncy seat. This would be one of those hard things to do that I know I need to make happen.

8. Last year I had two private students and one school student make it into districts. This year I will not be teaching at NMA but I will still be at Billerica. My goal is to increase all of my students scores and have at least 3 get into districts.

9. Get into a fitness routine. I was going to the gym at least 4 times per week up until 2 months before the wedding. Then I got really busy with the wedding planning and work. I NEED to start going to the gym everyday again. I love the feeling after a great workout!

10. Take a family vacation! I would love to bring Cailin somewhere kid friendly. She is still a bit young now, but maybe during April vacation or the beginning of summer vacation next year we can bring her somewhere! Camping?

11. Go to a Bruins AND a Celtics game. I have never been to a hockey game and I havent been to a Celtics game in YEARS!

12. Start the home buying process. We aren't quite ready to buy a house but we are ready to make more money. We are looking into buying a triple decker in the area, and renting out the top two apartments and living in the bottom floor. This way we have an ideal apartment and we can live virtually rent free. Then we can buy our own home!

13. Enroll Cailin in music class for when she turns 1. Being a musician and a teacher, I know the benefits of children being musical. Cailin will still be too young for piano lessons but a baby music class will be great! Dalcroze? Who knows!

14. Baby swim lessons! I had swim lessons at a very young age and LOVED it! Cailin loves the water already PLUS I think its a good idea to teach children how to swim at a young age. The local Y offers a baby class and it would be lots of fun!

15. Attend another PETA demonstration. Judge all you want, but I love animals and hate people who hurt them!

16. Register for a music class. (Possibly Orff)

17. Begin the first phase of a new music association. (Already sort of in the works, deets later)

18. Make our own sushi.

19. Make a batch of wine to give out as Christmas gifts (as long as it doesnt taste terrible)

20. Start consigning my clothes and Cailins. I go through a lot of clothes, and lets face it, I LOVE clothes. I have so much that I don't wear for various reasons. Like my maternity clothes, they are all newish and I probably won't wear them again even when  am pregnant for the 2nd time. I know I will want new clothes. Cailin outgrows her clothes in a matter of weeks so...

21. Visit Tina more often. Last October I had to give my cat Tina away. It broke my heart and still does. She was peeing in the house and I was pregnant. I loved that cat more than a human should love an animal. I got her near Halloween in 4th grade from an older couple in the neighborhood. She was one of two kittens and I chose her because she was the calm one of the two. Well, they reversed roles at some point. Tina was more active at 17 than Dan's cats are at 5. She was so full of life! She was my best friend! We survived middle school, break ups with boyfriends, deaths in the family, and moving from house to house. I really miss her!

22. Throw Cailin an amazing 1st birthday party!

23. Rent a cabin for a romantic weekend in Maine.

24. Continue to strive to be the best music teacher and mentor I can be.

25. Live life in the moment! Don't be afraid to be involved 100% because if you aren't, at some point you will realize you let life pass you by.

6 weeks old! WHAT!?!?!

I cannot believe my cutie Cailin is already 6 weeks old! The time is flying by... I love every second I spend with her, even her fussy times, which are thankfully few and far between.

She is wearing 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers! She my is big baby girl! Haha! She had her 1 month appointment last week and it went really well. She is 10lbs 11oz which is a full 2 lbs heavier than she was at her last appointment! She is also almost 23 inches long! She is super tall! Maybe she will be a model? Cailin also got the 2nd round of the hepatitis B shot. She didn't cry a lot but it was still terrible to watch! She looked so sad and other than being born, that is the first time I have seen her be in pain! (I am assuming birth is not pleasant for the baby either HA!)

We go back in August for her 2 month check-up and get 2 shots! Poor baby.

Dan's aunt Val and his parents have planned a little getaway weekend for our anniversary! They are taking care of Cailin while we go away and spend the weekend sans baby! I cannot wait to go out and spend quality time with Dan! We need to make a point to talk about non baby related topics and focus on ourselves and each other for the weekend. It is going to be amazing! (martini anyone?) I can't lie, I am excited to be able to have a martini since Cailin won't need to be fed!

I am still debating on what to get Dan for our anniversary. I have a few gift ideas but I can't think of something that I really want to get him! AHHHH!

5 weeks old!

Today you are 5 weeks old! Considering how SLOW my pregnancy went by, time is flying now! I can barely remember life without having Cailin here!

Wednesday we have our 1 month pediatrician appointment. Since Cailin is a bit of a chunk, me and Dan are betting on her current weight. He says 10 lbs I say 11. We shall see!

My dad came over yesterday and watched Cailin for a couple of hours while me and Dan got out of the house and took the motorcycle out to get lunch. It was great to spend time together where we didn't have baby C and got to talk about non baby related topics! My dad also showered us with gifts lol! He gave me a really cute bracelet that his co-worker made, gave us a set of red sox tickets!!!! AND got Cailin a Harley. Yup, my baby has a Harley. It's a "rocking horse" in the shape of a Harley Sportster and even makes an exhaust sound lol! Its super cute and I can't wait to set it up when she is a bit older!

Cailin's sleep habits are a bit odd. It seemed as if we settled into a good routine where I would give her a bath around 7/715 get her changed and lotioned, nurse her for a while and have some bonding time, then she would be in bed by 8 and would sleep until 11:30/12 then I would nurse her again and the family goes to bed. Well the last couple of nights have strayed from this schedule. For example the routine stuck but she didn't fall asleep until 1030 and getting her to sleep was a biatch. UH!

4 weeks old!

Cailin is 4 weeks old and tomorrow she will be 1 month!! WOW where does the time go?

C loves her shakey chair and will tolerate her swing and bassinet for short periods of time. She also likes to be propped up in the boppy pillow! You can already turn your head from side to side during tummy time and do a decent job of holding it up while I hold you. Both Dan and I think you smile in response to our stimulations as well!!! You are already getting so big!

I still have another 7 weeks left in my summer vacation and I do not want to go back to work at all. I enjoy spending every day with you and watching you grow! We just signed you up for daycare in the fall and hopefully you will make friends with the other babies haha! I already don't want to leave you there! :(

Yesterday Tracy came over to meet Cailin and hang out which was cool since we haven't seen each other in a while. She is obsessed with her lol! Cailin wore the cutest little blue sundress that Tracy got her for my baby shower.

3 weeks old (oops its a little late!)

Precious C is 3 weeks old as of July 9!!

Your sleeping schedule has gotten better since we introduced "the shaky chair", which is known to most normal people as a bouncy seat. It is literally the only place where you will stay asleep for 2 hours or more with the exception of the stroller but that only works if we are on the move.

Luckily your eating schedule is starting to even itself out and you are eating every 1.5-3 hours during the day and every 3ish hours at night.

I try to get out of the house every day whether its to go to the grocery store or a walk around Fresh Pond, I make it a point to leave! You have been very good when I take you out and you sleep most of the time. We did have a little incident in Marshalls where you woke up unexpectedly and I had to nurse you in the fitting room. Oh the joys of mommyhood :)

We have had tons of visitors, so many I can't even count!! You did get to meet your cousins David, Donna and Sydney (who I remember being born as if it were yesterday!!)

2 weeks already and the 4th

My precious Cailin (as of Monday) is already 2 weeks old! Time is already flying by!!!

Cailin and I are still trying to work out a good sleep, eat, wake schedule. She still likes to stay up late and sleep late. We are also trying to get her to feed better. She likes to nurse and eat but she has been doing too much snacking. My lactation consultant told me to be strict with her eating schedule and to make her wait a minimum of two hours between daytime and three hours at night. This is way harder than it sounds! Ugh!! Cailin is totally ready to eat after an hour sometimes which means I get to listen to her scream for a while. Luckily she quiets down eventually if she isn't super hungry.

Cailin is still in her newborn clothes and we are working on her last case of nb diapers then we are off to size 1s.

We had a great 4th of July! We went to Rich and Judy's and got to show off Cailin to everyone!! She had two cute outfits, and due to a diaper accident she got to wear both!
